Why would you play a beta version of REVO?
- You want to help Cosmic Misfit Studio spot bugs before most players can access them.
- You wish to get a sneak peek at the latest features or content updates.
- You just like breaking things or playing with potentially bug laden games.
There are many reasons to participate in a beta version of REVO, but what Cosmic Misfit Studio wants most out of the opportunity is a bug report should you discover any problem while testing a beta. This is the entire reason a beta version is released: to check for problems and fix them before most players experience them.
Where can you play a beta version of REVO?
Short answer: Steam
Right now, the easiest way to test a beta version of REVO is through Steam. While the full game is available elsewhere, there are not as many tools as easily available for beta testers at this time. If there is a special request for a beta build outside of Steam, it will be considered, so just reach out and make a request. If testing is needed and you can help, accomodations are likely to be made.
How can you play a beta version of REVO through Steam?
Short answer: bewarethebugs
First of all, you have to already have access to the full game on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1662790/REVO/
Second, open the Steam client, navigate to REVO in your Library, and open the Properties interface from the little gear cog icon. Then navigate to the Betas tab and enter the beta access code bewarethebugs and press Check Code.
Finally, you click the big button that allows you to opt into this beta version, close the Properties windows, and allow the game to download the latest beta version. You should see "REVO [beta]" as the name of the game shown in your Steam Library games list.
Once the beta version is downloaded and installed, you can click Play as you usually would to play the regular official version of the game, but this time it should be the beta version. To be sure, you can check the version number of the game from the title menu or pause screen.
Please report any problems you experience!
